MISSION

KMF advances excellence in the international field of public health by supporting innovative, pioneering, grassroots-level projects undertaken by students.

VISION

KMF provides funding opportunities for students doing independent grassroots-level fieldwork in the international field of public health, especially at the graduate level. KMF supports projects that give students the chance to work internationally at a local level, with the intention of promoting sustainable impact. We also use our resources to partner with leading public health institutions to enable emerging student leaders. In doing so, we support the initiation, refinement, and execution of dynamic responses to contemporary international public health issues.

HISTORY

KMF is founded by friends and family of Katie Evans to help individuals internalize, as Katie did, Gandhi’s challenge to humanity to “Be the change you want to see in the world.” Katie was the change that she wanted to see in the world. She modeled that for those she knew and loved. Katie left us with the challenge, the responsibility, to carry on her legacy of service to the global community. It’s an individual challenge that can only be met through the pooling of our communal effort, talent, strength, and support. Through its work in establishing and supporting educational opportunities and service projects for communities at home and abroad, The Katie Memorial Foundation seeks to meet that challenge. In doing so, we honor Katie’s life and work.
